Discover Our Regions
Bordered on the north by Canada, on the east by the Connecticut River and on the west by the Green Mountains,
travelers experience nature in its purest form while visiting the Northeast Kingdom, or NEK (“EN-EE-KAY”) as it’s known to locals. Find peace and serenity driving along the quiet back roads or crank up the tunes for an epic road trip. GetNEKed means diving into the raw, authentic experiences of the Kingdom
Our region is full of adventure. From skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing in the winter to summer swims, scenic drives and epic sunsets. Year-round biking, hiking, music, arts and cultural events attract visitors from New England, Canada, and beyond.
Across the Kingdom, you can dine at award-winning restaurants, sip brews at a craft brewery, then find comfort at local hotels, inns, campgrounds, and Airbnb’s.
Discover the three areas that make up Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom: The Eastern Trek, Farm & Field, and Mountain & Lake Getaway. Pick one area and make it your home base or plan a multi-day excursion across the Kingdom! And even if you take a wrong turn along your journey, there are no bad views in the Northeast Kingdom.
No matter where you visit in the Kingdom, get NEKed and enjoy!

EASTERN TREK
Depending how far you follow the Eastern Trek, you may end up reaching some of Vermont’s most remote destinations including Canaan, home to April’s Maple.

FARM & FIELD
Head to the Farm & Field region to discover the heart and soul of the Kingdom. Surround yourself with the rolling hills and curving valleys of Craftsbury, Hardwick, and Greensboro.
Revel in the beauty of the region each season. Roll your windows down and smell the fresh cut grass. Stop by a farm stand or Farmer’s Market and savor fresh fruits and veggies. This region is also home to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, multiple state parks, and eclectic arts and history museums including Bread and Puppet, the Highland Center for the Arts, and The Museum of Everyday Life.

MOUNTAIN & LAKE GETAWAY
The Mountain & Lake Getaway will bring you to communities including Newport, Jay, and Derby, where you’re basically able to touch the border!
Take a boat ride in Newport on Lake Memphremagog or hike the Willoughby State Forest overlooking Willoughby Lake. Stroll the streets of downtown Newport or head to the boardwalk and meander around the lake. This region is also home to Jay Peak Resort, a 4-season destination offering some of the Kingdom’s best skiing, biking, and recreational fun for all ages.
